Rocks, roots, water and leaves
All stopped by for a while
Here in a dry bed sycamore creek
Some will be gone tomorrow
Rocks, roots, water and time
Live and scrape at different speeds
Time is steady
Rocks resist
Water and leaves keep changing places
People and fish
and cattle and squirrels
Each gets just a taste of the world
Every river and snowflake and city
Loaded with meaning and motion and hope
I’ve got my spot, you’ve got yours
Never far from a watery shore
Join in the flow, it’s the best we can do
You don’t have to do it alone
